New Vehicle Accessories
Like many people with pets, I receive an abundance of mail-order catalogs, most of which go directly into the recycle bin. I happened to take a peek at one recently, however, and noticed a couple items of interest.
The first was the "Net Pet Barrier"
This is a light weight barrier with micro mesh attached to a pop-up wire frame. It will expand to fit any vehicle and is conveniently stored in a bag when not in use. It isn't intended for dogs who are determined to break out of the enclosure, but a creative way to keep a well-behaved dog from jumping onto the front seats. I'd love to hear from anyone who has used this product and can share their exprience.
The second item was a dog car harness. It wasn't the harness itself, so much as the accompanying description which warned the user to be sure the airbag is disabled when using the item. I don't think most people realize that a dog can be seriously injured (or worse) if they're in the passenger seat when the airbag is deployed. For what it's worth, most harnesses aren't meant to withstand the force of a serious accident - which is another reason I prefer using crates - but harnesses work well for many people. The airbag issue is just something to keep in mind.
Happy traveling!
